Emergency Aid Grant

College of the Mainland selected for emergency aid grant

College of the Mainland (COM) is pleased to announce that it is one of only ten Texas colleges to receive the Greater Texas Foundation Emergency Aid Roadmap grant. Through the project, $105,000 in grant funding plus an additional $15,000 raised by the COM Foundation will go directly to students facing emergencies. Additionally, COM will receive 18 months of technical assistance to design a sustainable, efficient emergency aid system. The College will receive the funding over three years to support this effort and the needs of COM students.

“College of the Mainland Foundation was selected to participate in the Texas Emergency Aid Roadmap for demonstrating a strong commitment to student success and a thoughtful approach to meeting students’ needs,” said Leslie Gurrola, Greater Texas Foundation Director of Programs & Strategy. “We’re excited to extend the reach and impact of the good work that is already happening here.”

The Texas Emergency Aid Roadmap is a three-year, $1.5 million grant program funded by Greater Texas Foundation to help ten community colleges across the state develop efficient, equitable, sustainable emergency aid programs to ensure students receive the support they need to persist through financial crises.

Greater Texas Foundation is a private foundation based in Bryan, Texas that supports efforts to ensure all Texas students are prepared for, have access to, persist in, and complete a postsecondary education. Since its 2001 inception, the foundation has approved more than $100 million in grants to support Texas students.
